On 24th August we played Péter Eötvös’ Lisztomania for four hands at the Arcus Temporum XX Festival in Pannonhalma (www.arcustemporum.com/2024/en/).
The score is inspired by the ‘Sirens’ episode of James Joyce’s Ulysses. Two years ago we were fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the composer on the interpretation of the piece.
Here is the review by János Mácsai presented in Bartók Radio’s Új Zenei Újság (New Music Journal) programme, 29 August 2024:
„There was another duo I had heard several times, the Görög Sisters. They are two young Hungarian pianists, born in Serbia. They play dazzlingly well, really. Simply what I have heard from them so far has been perfect. The absolute highest pinnacle of four-handed or two-pianos playing you can imagine. And so it was this time: they performed a very short little piece by Eötvös. The audience went wild, so to speak. Which I don’t know how appropriate in the Chapel of Our Lady, but that’s just the way it was.”
