The following excerpt describes the Görög sisters’ performance at the matinee celebrating the 50th anniversary of Aleksandar Vujić’s work as composer, conductor and pianist.
They performed the composer’s Srpsko kolo (Serbian folk dance) arranged for four hands dedicated specifically to the Görög sisters duo. The following lines are taken from the article by Marija Adamov originally published in Muzika Klasika no. 22, January 2016.
“Finally, repeatedly highlighting Aleksandar Vujić’s versatility and all-encompassing creative opus, musicologist and host Snežana Nikolajević pointed out the composer’s need for hearing the same piece in different variations, offering various experiences as interpreted in different instrumental colors by new performers. Understandably, the performed piece was the twenty-fifth versions of the widely popular, and therefore obligatory, Srpsko kolo (Serbian folk dance) arranged for one piano four hands. The play was engaged, temperamental, in a heady tempo characterized by almost visual leaps and anacruses, melodically entwined twists, typical bends and meandering decorations, the middle part was well expressed, but also in certain two-hand moments it gained different outlines and expressiveness, while the rustic accents framing the melody were given special attention and emphasis under the hands of the perfect Görög sisters, Noémi and Enikő, who shone in a different, surprisingly confident and convincingly pianistic light.” (Source: muzikaklasika.com/MK22/koncerti22.html).
