The Görög Sisters piano duo played a concert at the annual Klassz a pARTon! (Classics on the Beach) festival on July 17, 2020, at the grand hall of the Anna Grand Hotel in Balatonfüred , Hungary. Thank you to the pianist Tamás Érdi for inviting us, and we are also grateful to the festival’s producer Márta Érdi Szabó.
Máté Csabai wrote the following lines, published in Fidelio.hu:
“That evening there was a deluge both outside the concert venue, and inside its walls – for it was a real torrent of sounds that Subotica’s Görög Sisters drenched us with.
Noémi and Enikő Görög excel in their fiery, spirited tempo combined with exact rhythm, turning even an eccentric and peculiar piece, such as Poulenc’s four-hand Sonata into a roaring success. I would have loved to hear more restful, lyrical, dreamy works, because it is hard to sit quietly for sixty minutes, listening to hair-raising, wild pieces. I would highlight Ravel’s La Valse; a real tour de force, which the artists performed by presenting a thousand shades of the richness of their pianism.
The fact that they are sisters is much more than a simple trivia. Though they like to point out that in terms of habit and temper they are very much unlike each other (“we are so different” – they said in a recent interview), the Sisters are completely in harmony, seamlessly sharing the 88 keys of the keyboard even during the most intense sections of the Ravel piece.”
