We are grateful to the organizers for the invitation. You can find further information on the Hungarian Cultural Society of Transylvania below:
The Hungarian Cultural Society of Transylvania had begun its functioning on April 12, 1885, at the statutory meeting of the Society. Its main goals were the propagation and spreading of Hungarian language and culture, and the provision of economic and cultural support for the Hungarian diaspora. However, the Romanian Communist regime banned the diversified cultural and educational activities of the Society in 1947 so that the non-profit organisation could relaunch only a few decades later, in April 1991.
At present, the Society has the following main purposes:
- being an umbrella organization, to manage, organise and coordinate at European standards the propagation of the native language culture among the Hungarian population in Romania, especially among Hungarian diaspora
- by training cultural manager professionals, to promote the success of individual and communitarian cultural values within universal cultural trends
The Society regularly holds its annual award-giving ceremony – called also the Transylvanian Oscars – where excellence is recognized and awarded for artistic and cultural achievements in Hungarian cultural life from Romania.
